My capstone project for Coursera’s Technical Writing certified course (February- March 2022) was to write a how-to guide. I decided to write a guide on how to create a reading list using the productivity application Notion. These are the goals of this how-to guide:
- Give advice on how to select books.
- Teach beginner users how to create tables in Notion.
- Teach beginners how to connect two tables using Notion’s Relation property.
The project had the following stages:
- Defining the audience and understanding the user’s context.
- Researching on how to select books to read.
- Researching on the available reading list templates in Notion.
- Selecting a template that had a video tutorial.
- Following the steps described in the tutorial and identifying areas of improvement.
- Writing a new how-to guide with improvements included.
